Home Schooling Required Documentation and Timeline
Annually provide written notice to the Superintendent of Schools of their school district of residence of their intention to educate their child at home by July 1st of each school year (C.R. 100.10 (b) 1).
Parents who commence home instruction after the start of the school year, or establish residence in the school district after the start of the school year, shall provide written notice within 14 days following the commencement of home instruction within the school district (C.R. 100.10 (b) 2).
Procedures for Development & Review of Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP)
10 business days of receipt of notice of intention to instruction, send parents a copy of 100.10 of the Regulation s of the Commissioner of Education and an IHIP form.
Parent submit completed IHIP form to school district by August 15th or 4 weeks, whichever is later
School district notifies parent that the IHIP is in compliance or written notice of any deficiency in the IHIP within 10 business days in receipt of the IHIP.
If deficiency within IHIP, parents have 15 days to submit of by September 15th whichever is later. Continued procedures for compliance and deficiency found under C.R. 100.10.
